The government of Querétaro announces positive adjustments to its unemployment support program. Although dates and specific details have not been revealed, it is expected that the state governor will make the announcement soon. The program provides financial support of 3,500 pesos per month for a maximum period of two months, with the condition that if the beneficiary finds a job before the two-month period ends, the support is suspended. Applications to access this program can be made at the National Employment Service offices after completing a form.
To be eligible, applicants must be at least 18 years old, present proof of residence, and have worked in a formal job in the state of Querétaro, having lost employment in the twelve months prior to the application. The government emphasizes that this year it will focus on strengthening programs that promote labor formality, training, and self-employment, in addition to improving strategies for job creation, considering the national and international context.
In the past year, the state unemployment support program benefited 4,000 people, mainly in the metropolitan area and in the municipality of San Juan del Río, with women being the primary applicants for this resource. The Secretary of Labor is evaluating adjustments to this program in order to expand its benefits. The head of the state agency, Liliana San Martín Castillo, stated that efforts will be made to broaden the program’s reach to benefit more people in unemployment situations in the state.
